Renault laguna suspension safety issue?

i own a 02 plate renault laguna... the front suspension totally collapsed due to two broken springs.. apparently the housing supporting the springs are too narrow and the springs, when broken, push over the housing and the front of the car drops down fowling the front wheels... i had the car towed to a garage and fixed and was advised that the car should have been recalled as this was a known safety issue and the front suspension should have been modified. has anyone heard about this recall and front suspension problem?
