97 XR250 wont kick start but will roll start?

Adjust your valves - when they wear, the intake valve clearance tightens up to the point where the bike won't kick start when cold, but will when hot - only way to start cold is to pull it, causing the engine to turn over faster than you can get it going by kicking.
