Girls or women- Please... Embarrassing question...?

Ok, well I keep leave my pads on this thing next to me at my house. I put it to the side and then I forget to throw it in the trash. Yes, I know its very gross, fowl, and etc. The thing is...Im not meaning to do it... It's very embarrassing when my brother yells, "PAD!" And i get in trouble with my parents like I did a "naughty" thing, and I'm meaning to do it but I just forget!!! So girls, what should I do to remember? And again I'm not doing this on purpose its by accident and I forget its even there on the side... So yeah, help me please! By the way I leave it to the side because the trash can is all the way across the bathroom so I leave it there and when I get back up Ithink to myself I could throw it away but, I forget. Help!
